What does an initial assessment involve?

Our initial assessments normally last for one hour. Over the course of the session we will be able to build up an understanding of any problems or injuries you may have, including the historical causes of these issues, as well as discussing your personal and lifestyle goals. Once the injury has been diagnosed, we will discuss a treatment and exercise program which is compatible with your lifestyle. Initial treatment will be provided on your first appointment, but additional treatments or further investigation may be required. We will also provide you with a home-exercise plan which will assist with your recovery and rehabilitation.

What shall I bring with me?

If you have any relevant information regarding your injury such as x-rays or scans please bring these along with you.

Do I have to undress?

To properly examine the injury it may be necessary to partially undress eg: remove your shirt to see your shoulder; however you can’t go wrong with wearing shorts (if it’s a leg injury) or a vest-top for neck and shoulder injuries. Please speak to your therapist if you have any concerns as we do not wish this to be a barrier to your treatment and recovery. Towels are used to cover areas which are not being treated.

What if I need to cancel?

If you do need to cancel an appointment you can do so by telephone, text or email. Please be aware there may be a charge for any appointments cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled start time.

How many treatments will I need?

The amount of treatment required will depend primarily on the severity of your condition/injury and your goals for and after recovery. Your therapist will always try to provide an indication of how many visits will be required, although this can be difficult to estimate.

Can I bring a friend?

Absolutely, however, please remember that due to room size we cannot get your whole family in! We request that any patient under the age of 16 is accompanied by a parent or guardian.

How far in advance do I need to book an appointment?

Generally we ask for appointments to be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time. However, if you are in urgent need please call us and we will do our utmost to treat you.
